«Holistic thinking forms the basis of our conceptual approach to the different projects – with the aim of developing an independent, specific solution for each construction task. The determining factors such as urban development, operational and spatial organization, economy and ecology, constructive structure and architectural expression should be combined into a synthetic and coherent whole. We attach great importance to a careful look at the whole, with knowledge of the decisive detailed questions, throughout the entire planning process. Finding, recognizing and sharpening the defining qualities inherent in the location or existing buildings play a central role for us in order to anchor new buildings or structural interventions in their intended location and to give them an atmospherically appropriate expression.”
The architectural firm Niedermann Sigg Schwendener Architekten in Zurich was founded by the three partners Norbert Niedermann, Philipp Sigg and Thomas Schwendener in 2005 after studying at the Winterthur University of Applied Sciences and the ETH Zurich. A team of around 15-20 employees works on a wide range of different construction tasks and constructive solutions with a focus on the areas of old age and care, living as well as schools and sport. The majority of the projects and buildings are the result of successes from competitive procedures that were announced by public property developers. The range of services covers the entire area of architecture, from project planning, planning and execution of new buildings and conversions to the repair of listed objects. In addition to classic architectural services, the range of services includes general planning mandates as well as feasibility studies and advice for private developers and institutional investors.
